Post subject:  Plotting points separated by multiple units, connecting line

I have a problem with plotting points connected by lines that I was hoping someone could help me with.
I am working on a chart that plots background percentile growth curves (monthly data), and then has individual points plotted on top of it (units less than monthly).
(time (months) is on the x-axis, and is months 1,2,3...59,60... -and on, not Jan2012,Feb2012, etc)
It seems we're able to either have the percentile growth curve data points connected by lines and have the smallest unit on the x-axis set to whole months, or we have the smallest unit less than a month, but the percentile data points can no longer be connected by lines.
An example of the percentile curves is attached, with height on the y axis, and age in months on the x axis.

My question is this: Is it possible to have a smaller unit (ie, 0.1 month), but still have the monthly data (ie, at 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0 months) plot and be joined with lines?
Secondly, is it possible to have a mixed chart, with the child's individual data being plotted as large circles/points (no connecting lines), while the percentile data points don't have large circles, and are visible only as lines?
Thanks so much for your help!

(note, this was inadvertently posted on the old pchart forum first, now correctly posted here)
